The WOODWARD 9907-149 detects the prime mover speed via three magnetic pickups (MPUs). These three speed-sensing units (Unit A, Unit B, and Unit C) operate independently, each equipped with a separate power supply, operator interface, and alarm system.
The three units run independently: they monitor the prime mover speed through their respective MPUs, perform speed calculations separately, and then adopt a 2-out-of-3 voting logic to determine whether to trigger a trip.
When the detected speed exceeds the preset trip speed setpoint, the device will activate a trip to protect the equipment from damage.
